# Getting Started with Basalt Notes

Welcome to the Basalt Notes guides. Follow these steps to set up your high-performance private markdown vault.

## Step 1: Connect your Cloud Vault

1. Go to the **Settings** page.
2. Select your cloud provider (Dropbox or Google Drive).
3. Authorize the application via secure OAuth 2.0.
4. Select a folder to act as your note vault root.

## Step 2: Create a Daily Note

Press `Ctrl+Shift+D` (or `Cmd+Shift+D` on macOS) to instantly create today's entry inside the daily note collection. If a template exists, it will populate automatically.

## Step 3: Explore the Graph

Create WikiLinks by typing `[[Note Name]]` inside the editor. Double click a node in the Graph View to jump to its editor surface.
