# Account Management & Data Control

Learn how to manage your Basalt Notes account settings, export your hosted data, and permanently delete your profile.

## Exporting Hosted Account Data

Before making changes to your account, you can download a copy of your hosted data package.

1. Go to the **Settings** page in the application.
2. Under the **Account** section, click **Export Data**.
3. This downloads a JSON archive containing your profile, sharing references, and capture records.

*Note: Your local vaults (markdown files) are stored in your browser cache and must be backed up separately.*

## Deleting Your Hosted Account

If you no longer wish to use Basalt's hosted services, you can permanently delete your account.

1. Navigate to **Settings -> Account**.
2. Click **Delete Hosted Account**.
3. Confirm by entering your password and typing `DELETE`.
4. This immediately terminates active subscriptions, logs out all devices, and deletes your hosted records.
